Depth |
Total Vertical Depth: 10,100’ |

Geology |
Breitling’s interest is located in McKenzie County, North Dakota which is in the middle of a tremendous drilling surge. Within the last couple of years, nearly 75 horizontal Bakken wells have been drilled and completed within an 8 mile radius of the Big Caesar acreage. Horizontal distances through the Bakken range from 3,000’ to over 10,000’ in length. The Bakken Formation can reach a thickness of 130’ and consists of three separate units; the upper Bakken is shale, the middle and most productive zone is sandy and dolomitic, and the lower zone is shale. The shales are the source rocks while the middle Bakken is the “Storage Rock”. The 35’ Sanish/Three Forks is shaley and sandy, and has been an excellent producer is McKenzie County. Using a geology-based assessment methodology in 2008, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) estimated undiscovered recoverable volumes of 3 to 4.3 billion barrels of oil, 2 trillion cubic feet of gas and 148 million barrels of natural gas liquids in the Bakken Shale in North Dakota |
